My fav tip is: Buy good quality paper. It's tempting to get cheap cardstock and it never looks as nice on your project as the good stuff.

I do have a blog http://erinkcreations.blogspot.com

My favorite papercrafting tip is SAVE THOSE SCRAPS! I have found so many uses for them even when I did not know I would use them. Also, be sure to go thru them every now and then to clean out those small scraps you actually won't use.

I'm really new at this, in fact I just went to a Stampin' Up class last weekend, so I don't know if I have a favorite, or any tips yet. Maybe this book can help me out.

Super candy (since I don't always have a laptop at the ready)! Grins!

Holy!!! That's is awesome candy!

Favourite tip...hmmm....oh got it...to do some water colouring (i.e. with an aqua brush) if you don't have the ink bottles, take the stamp pad press it together while closed. When you open it there will be a ink spot on the lid. If need to be add a bit of water but use as ink!

hmmm... it's hard to pick a favorite but i think mine would have to be to score your paper first, then fold and burnish with the bone folder. It really makes your edge more crisp and professional looking.

Wow! would love to win this blog candy!
I store my scrap pieces of paper in ziplog bags by color. That makes it easier to see if I have scraps of the color I am working with.

Jackie said...

Favorite tip...lets see, how about try it before you buy it. Its not always possible, but if you can stamp with a set or use a product before you buy it, it will help you decide if you really need it or not...:)

Fantastic giveaway!! Since I do a lot of iris folding and cutting with my x-acto knife, my tip would be invest in a glass mat if you use an x-acto. The knife just slides along the glass beautifully. And always keep new blades on hand - a sharp blade is a must.

Awesome blog candy. My favorite stamping tip would be to place an old mouse pad underneath your cardstock as this helps give a better impression when stamping.

My favorite tip is: When trying something new with folds or cutting, use computer paper to make a mock-up. That way you don't waste your "good" paper learing where to cut, fold or score!

My best tip is to do what you like. Pick your favorite colors, your favorite images, favorite embellishments or whatever. If you love it than it will be more enjoyable to create. And, the receiver will trully be receiving a part of you.

I'm a frugal stamper/card maker. I buy dbl. sided tape from Sam's club (I think it works great as a paper adhesive) And about once every other month, I check out the Dollar Store and Big Lots...I find last seasons paper in bulk, foam tape, die cuts etc... name brand stuff, marked way down.

check out my blogspot....

My tip would be to buy a decent paper trimmer for as much as you can afford. It really pays off in the end so you're not buying one piece of plastic junk after the other! I recommend Dahle rolling trimmers. That book looks really good. Thanks for the drawing!

My best tip for papercrafting is: make sure to have lots of chocolate on hand, and keep the cats out! (They love to eat my cardstock and tangle up all my ribbon after pulling it off the rolls!)

Great blog candy! My favorite crafting tip is probably not that inspiring because I'm new to the craft. I just really like to sand the edges of my colored paper that is on a white background for an antique look. I also think brown ink and daubers do a great job of giving that antique look by browning the edges of your paper. I used it all the time. Here's my blog: http://wellsaidcards.blogspot.com/

My favorite crafting tip is to always keep a digital camera with you when visiting far away stamp stores (and be sure to ask if they mind you taking photos) to take photos of the samples that inspired you to buy that stamp or embellishment!

Natasha said...

Wow! That book looks amazing!
My tip is when putting grosgrain ribbon flat on your card front, cut it a bit too long, then heat emboss it to set it and prevent it from fraying. Be careful though, don't want it to melt too much!

dawnmercedes said...

My tip would be...find a bunch of stamping friends and share stamp sets. That way, you don't have to buy every set that you like but you could borrow them from a friend! Save you money to buy paper, ink and embellishments! (The other essentials.) My blog is http://dawnmercedes.blogspot.com

My favorite papercrafting technique is to ink and tear the edges of my paper.

Mary said...

Oh you said tip not technique...lol...sorry! Ok, so my tip would be to use the best quality paper you can afford for your card base. I hate a flimsy card!

My favorite tips is when your cutting out unmounted stamps on EZ mount to save the pieces of foam to use like pop dots. It works the same!

My favorite tip, is to check out the Scotch ATG gun. It's my very favorite adhesive, and after the initial expense...the refill rolls are super economic!

A great tip I learned on SCS is to store embossing powder in a plastic storage container and when you need it, just place the paper over the container and spoon it over. All the leftover powder just stays in there!

Such a clever idea -- you should've seen the mess I made the first time I tried embossing. Blue glitter powder EVERYWHERRE!!!! :)

I use travel size baby wipes in a plastic case to wipe my stamps clean. They work great!

One of my favorite tips is about Magic Mesh. Instead of paying an arm and a leg for Magic Mesh, I went to the hardware store and bought a roll of drywall tape and it works great, looks good, and costs pennies a yard.

Leah said...

oh gosh! pick just one tip? there are really some great tips that have saved me some grief in my crafting.. probably #1 for purchasing unmounted sets that need to be trimmed - buy the SU! scissors... they really do work, they are faster than regular scissors, don't get as gummy, and what a relief for your hands! I am not a demo & have been stamping for about 5 years.. I finally gave in & bought some.. I wish I did that a long time ago (and many stamps ago.. he he) :D

My favorite tip, discover by accident while doing a large quanitity of Holiday cards is to stamp your inside sentiment first that way if it doesn't come out crisp and clean....All is not lost just flip it inside out and layer some cardstock over the top of it no one will know you made a boo boo!

Another tip worthy of sharing ... For bulky embellishments flip the card inside out before mailing for added protection.

Stay Organized...so when inspiration hits, you know what you want and where to find it!

Pam, these punches are so hard to get right now that you could be auctioning it off for big dollars!
It is very generous of you to be giving it away.

Nancy,
What a great blog candy question. I might have to use that on my next candy giveaway.
It's hard for me to think of a great tip.
I posted a tutorial on how to use an EK/Stampin' Up! corner punch to make scalloped borders. I love that idea. All you do is take the corner guide off and punch the edge of your cardstock with it.

Your new blog banner looks amazing! Thanks for this great blog candy.

that book looks delicious!!! i guess my latest tip is something a friend and i discovered last week. if you don't have a ticket corner punch, you can use a regular sized hole punch and just punch half of it into the corner! simple! here is my blog, too! It's so fun!!

What great candy.

My tip would be that whenever you use up a reinker, there is always some left in the bottle, fill the bottle up with crystal effects, then you have that color still that you can create with in the form of crystal effects. Just make sure to label the bottle as having the CE in it.

My tip is to be careful not to over embellish. I taught a class once with a husband and wife. The wife kept trying to out-do her husband and ended up having a train wreck of a card because she didn't stop embellishing. It was sad. I know it's hard to know where the line is, but it is there somewhere! LOL!

I think my favorite tip would be good quality cardstock...

My tip is that photo boxes make great boxes to store all your cards or embellishments. They are inexpensive, colorful, and can be labeled. Wishing you a Happy St. Patty's Day:) Linda SS

My favorite tip would be to read all these tips. I found out some great info!!! I guess my favorite and not very original, I see, is to use good quality card stock! I've got some of the flimsy stuff. it really makes a big difference.

My favorite tip was to stamp with a stamping pad underneath your image and paper... I know its not a must have, but I find its easier on the hands and gives a nice crisp image. Thanks for the great blog candy Pam!

I have to say I LOVE faux stitching! It just makes everything look better! :) Since I don't really sew or own a machine, this is a great way for me to get that look. Great blog candy!

Allison Rankin said...

Now that I have re-read my post, I never gave a tip. My fav papercrafting tip is to buy a little bit of everything (e.g. ink spots, mixed types of cardstock/patterned paper, embellishments)...you never know until you try something (especially color-wise) if you will like it or not!

Love your new Banner...noticed it right away...great job!

Yummy candy..hmmm. My tip is that I take my scraps and punch out the extra with what ever punched fit and put them all in a small baggie. Then when i am looking to accent a card I have all these co-ordinated punched out pieces:)

Wow! This is a terrific book...I recently purchased a couple other books from PaperCraft...and they are just super! My favorite tip...lay out your designs on scrap paper before stamping on your cardstock...it gives a great opportunity to make sure the pieces all fit and come together. IT also helps you figure out the best way to embellish and place your layers before you glue the layers onto the cardstock. I do this when I going to stamp on material also...I make a sketch of the item to be stamped onto a piece of scrap printer papaer and then try out my design before stamping onto the actual piece I want to work with. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Here's an organizational tip... Save all of your scrap ribbon in a clear glass jar. This way, when you need just a little piece of ribbon to finish off a card you'll know right where to look!

Terry Molineux said...

My favorite WAS the craft ink pad and SU's new cutter kit...using the perferator to make faux stitching it's a breeze but now I love the one that you use all the cuttings left over from mounting your stamps and place them randomly on the wood to make your own mosaic stamp....love it!

Craft tip: To adhere a prima flower to your card with a brad. Lay your card on a soft paper piercing pad, prick a hole with a large punaise and the brad just fits in without distorting the cardstock.

Anonymous said...

My favorite tip is to store your paper scraps by color in zip lock bags. Then when I am stamping I go first to my scraps for those small pieces for layers, or for punching. No waste of that really good cardstock!

Love your blog. I've never won Blog Candy, so that would be fun!

I love your blog! My tips are about ribbon. I sort my ribbon & lace by color and store them in gallon ziplock bags. I keep those bags in a plastic bin, so when I need a certain color I just pull out the right bag. I also keep an old curling iron in the bin. It's a great way to give the ribbon a quick press if it gets a little wrinkled along the way--no need to haul out a regular iron. Pull the ribbon or lace through the curling iron quickly if it is more delicate, slowly if it's cotton.

I love this book. What a great choice for blog candy! My tip is to make more than one of each card you create while the supplies are out. But don't put a sentiment on it until it is time to use it. That way it can be used for a number of purposes. I wish I followed this tip more often.

Hi, great blog and candy. I'd have to say my favourite tip which a lot of people already said was to save your scraps and keep it organized so it's easy to find them when you need them. Thanks for sharing :)

Great blog candy, and I love your blog! My best tip is to *try* to stay organized. I like to keep my Stampin Up paper scraps organized by color family that way I'm not always cutting into a full sheet.

My favorite tip is to save all scraps no matter what size or color. Some of my best cards come out of the scraps, I always seem to find just the right size in color from a scrap, KWIM?

Just one tip? This is something some people may not know. I use a needle-threading helper (a small plastic device with a circle of thin wire on the end)to easily thread a little string through button holes. This little tool comes in handy for helping pull ribbon through holes and such too.

OMgosh what a sweet thing to do. My favorite tip is just to share what you love with everyone. Helping out those who need it along the way.

If you do a lot of projects, buy everything bulk or in value packs. . .bulk scrapbook paper, foam tape, glue, cardstock, envelopes, c. In the end, it'll save you a lot of money and it'll provide you with an endless supply of materials to make a lot of projects.

Would love to win that book! I love Stamp it and Papercraft!
