What was I thinking?! { Holiday Circle Journal Swap }
In a very weak moment, not having a clue what I was doing, I signed up for Shuggy's Holiday Circle Journal Swap at The Stamp Shack! She sent us all the instructions and told us not to stress ~ just have FUN with it! Once I figured out my theme and papers, it all fell into place and I really did enjoy it!
The theme of my journal is "SWEET Holiday Memories". I've asked the other 6 participants to sign in on one of the tags and tell a little about themselves, attaching a photo if they want to.
I'm not sure that you can read it in the photo, so here is what my welcome and instructions say:
"Welcome to my circle journal of sweet holiday memories! Doesn’t it seem that food is inherently connected to our family traditions, especially around the holidays?
I invite you to add a two-page design of your own and share a traditional family recipe, a special family prayer, or a memorable gift that exudes your sweet holiday memories."
Then on the next page, I tell about one of my *sweet* holiday memories:
"Christmas cutout cookies are a holiday tradition in our family. This photo is of my nephew jon. He just turned 25 this month, so this picture is probably 20 years old! My sister judy and her family live in California and they were visiting us in Nebraska for the holidays. We all have sweet memories of jon helping bake the Christmas cookies that year!"
Mom’s Christmas Cutout Sugar Cookies
Crème together until fluffy: 1 cup margarine, 1-1/2 cups sugar, 3 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla
Sift together:
3-1/2 cups flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
Mix flour mixture with butter mixture and chill 3-4 hours. Roll out on a well floured surface, 1/8 – ¼” thick. Cut out with cookie cutters. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees, 6-7 minutes. Frost, decorate with candy sprinkles and enjoy!!!
It's getting late and I really must get to bed earlier than I did last night! It was after midnight and I need more than 6 hours of sleep!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
Smiles, Pam :)
