May the Bluebird of Happiness . . .

. . . brighten your day!
{hee hee, did you think I was going to say "fly up your nose"?}

Ever since I bought this cute little bird punch last month, I've been anxious to use it to create a bluebird card.  So tonight, I sorted through my stash of blue designer papers and found this gorgeous paper by My Minds Eye.  I *love* that it looks like it has a linen texture which gives it a rather vintage look.

This card is a 5-1/4" square.  The base cardstock is blue bayou, one of the retired in-colors from Stampin' Up. The other layers are baja breeze and soft sky.  I especially like that you can punch the bird wing separately, and the leaf branch too.

For the inside, I used soft sky cardstock and zigzag stitched a piece of the polka dot paper across the top left corner.

Did you know the mythology of the bluebird of happiness has deep roots that go back thousands of years? "Indigenous cultures across the globe hold similar myths and beliefs about the bluebird. It is a widely accepted symbol of cheerfulness, happiness, prosperity, hearth and home, good health, new births, the renewal of springtime, etc. Virtually any positive sentiments may be attached to the bluebird."

How's that for bluebird trivia?  ;)  You just never know what you're going to find here do you?

I've sure been enjoying your comments and appreciate them so much!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Smiles 2 U!

I love it! Thanks for the trivia on the blue bird. My mom who was staying with us for a few months put hers in her window and I thought about writing a piece on it. I didn't realize the meaning. How serendipity to find what you wrote to go with what I hope to write on resiliency!
