{WSC101} Autumn Days & the Ring-Neck Pheasant

Happy Weekend, My Friends!

This card was created especially for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I planned to use this new Stampin' Up! Autumn Days. But first I had to figure out how to make it work with this layout. I've used chocolate chip cardstock for the base, more mustard, really rust layers and a few assorted remnants of autumn designer papers.

I wasn't sure what to do with the pheasant! I mean, they are such a beautifully colored bird and I knew I couldn't do it justice if I tried to color it with markers. Instead, I stamped it in brown and embossed with a clear embossing powder. The other stamping of the tall grass, the maple leaf and the background is done with Versamark and clear embossing powder.

What are you doing this weekend and how's the weather where you are? We woke up to a temp of 27 and light *SNOW* on the ground!!! The only other time I remember it snowing this early in October is in 1970 ~ on my sister's wedding day! The sun is shining now and it looks like a beautiful Autumn day! The leaves are really falling and I noticed my potted plants are wilted by the frost. I dread the thought of winter to come . . .

Today I got a wireless mouse for my new laptop so I can navigate with a little more speed. Now, I just need to get my files transferred too and I can put the old desktop to rest.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Wow, Pam, this is beautiful! And thanks for the photo of the pheasant....we used to have them here where I live, but they're all gone now...I don't remember them being this brightly colored, so it is good to have it as a reference!!!
Lucky you, having the laptop...enjoy!

Very pretty card Pam! We got 3-4 inches of the white stuff here but it was melting this afternoon. We quite a few pheasants around our farm and my oldest son even raised some one year for an FFA project.

Beautiful card....love the pheasant...haven't used mine yet. I love your layers and the rich colors. Sorry to hear you had snow this morning....I am really wanting the nice weather to stay...It was a little chilly here in the NW...55 degrees..which allowed us to do some outside painting. Probably the last day for that activity!!! Oh, I grew up eating pheasants but I don't remember what it tastes like.

Hi Pam! I'm back! :) Been busy helping a friend with wedding stuff. Looks like you guys had fun at your workshop. Wish I could have been there! What city do you live in again? How close is it to Lincoln? My parents house is only an hour and fifteen minutes or so away from Lincoln...maybe I could make it to a workshop sometime! Love the pheasant card-I like how you stamped him. I wouldn't have felt like I was doing it justice by attempting to color him in either. Just too beautiful! Take care!
