{CTD#83} Just Peachy!

This is my second week as the Color Throwdown Guest Designer for March.   As I mentioned last week, I've always been such a fan of each member of the Color Throwdown Team and it is a thrill to get the opportunity to create alongside them for an entire month of Wednesdays!

The catchy "Can You Handle This?" slogan with the Color Throwndown color swatch is quite approprate this week.  Honestly, I wasn't so sure I could handle it!  I pulled out a sheet of cardstock for each color and stared at them for a few days before I gave it a try.   To add to the challenge, this Wednesday's CTD is sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps and I was to use their Multi-Step Peach stamp set along with these colors.

You might get a chuckle out of how this card evolved.  First of all, I spent at least an hour trying to figure out which Stampin' Up! colors to use to stamp the multi-layered peach so it would look like a PEACH. : )  I started with crushed curry, goovy guava and rose romance for the peach and then used WILD WASABI, old olive and rich razzleberry for the leaf and stem.  Isn't it amazing how it looks so realistic?  Almost like a photo instead of a stamped image.  After spending all this time stamping the peach, I wanted a layout that would showcase it and do it justice and this is what I came up with.

Please note the first photo below.  It is proof that I honestly *tried* to use bermuda bay cardstock on this card!  I even went so far as to stitch it on and tell myself it would be OK, knowing fully well that I didn't care for it.  There are little bermuda bay colored flowers in the background paper, but that extra piece of cardstock just overpowered my sweet little peach!

In the past, I may have mentioned to you that my hubby (aka Mr Wonderful) is my best card critic and usually gives me the ooohs and aaahs that I'm looking for.  ;)   Well, not tonight!  He took one look at it, furrowed his brow and told me exactly what I was thinking.  Soooo, I carefully unassembled  my card, cut a piece of marigold morning cardstock slightly larger than the bermuda bay and zig zag stitched right over top of it.  {sigh}

The photo below shows how I finished the inside.
The second peach didn't take nearly as long to stamp as the first one!  :)

If you're up for a challenge, this is a GOOD ONE and I encourage you all to participate!  If you want some inspiration first,  hop on over to the Color Throwdown blog and see what the CTD Team has created for you this week!  They are:

Kristin Bueter - Mindless Creativity
Broni Holcombe - Splashes of Watercolor
Tammy Hershberger - Stamp Happy
LeAnne Pugliese - Wee Inklings
Barbara Anders - Paper Pursuits
Danielle Kennedy ~ Wild Dragonfly Designs
Cathy Indelicato - Crafty Thoughts

The "rules" to play are simple...you don't have to match the colors exactly (now, I read that!), just use the closest colors you have. Use keyword CTD83 in any online galleries, add the direct link to your project using InLinkz on the Color Throwdown blog, and be sure to credit the Color Throwdown Challenge as your color inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope your day is JUST PEACHY!!

First of all you did a simply amazing job on the peach!! Wow, I wish I had one near by I could eat it looks so good! You've done a great job with the card. Love the stitching and the ribbon treatment on the circle.

Believe it or not, I actually really like the first one you made!! That blue makes the peach stand out wonderfully. However, I don't want to upset Mr. Wonderful so don't tell him I said so LOL :D

You are your worst critic, Pam! Your card is AMAZING, and you rocked out those peaches! I agree with Marisa... I think the blue looks fabulous on the reject card, but the final design is awesome, too!!! Beautiful work!

This looks good enough to eat---and so sorry you had to do a "re-do". If only everyone knew all the times my creations were ripped apart and reglued! :D

Ha ha ha...you have me cracking up having just read your post! LOL I LOVE that you carefully unassembled your card and stitched a slightly larger piece of marigold over the bermuda bay! Ha ha ha That is totally something I would do if a card just didn't feel right to me (all but the stitching that is...I'm a hand stitcher and that takes me FOREVER). I like both cards but I have to agree with you that the final take is a much better way to showcase your beautifully stamped peach! It DOES look like a photo! Your layout turned out perfect for it also.

Oh and you also had me laughing that you took an hour to figure out the exact colors to use. Again, something else I would do. It's kind of ironic that I'm on a team called "My Time Made Easy" because I definitely tend to find the best way to make my time DIFFICULT! Either way, Pam, the colors you chose are PERFECT and I can't say I would have ever paired those together thinking they would return a beautifully stamped peach! GREAT work...just beautiful :)
