{SSSC#59} Listen Honey ~ Age Happens!

Well, I was planning to keep my birthday on the "down low" this year, but with all my family and friends on Facebook, that didn't happen!  I figure I may as well grin and bear it! :)   My *younger* sister told me that 56 is the new 46.  That's wishful thinking!  LOL

Today's card was created especially for Karen Giron's SWEET SUNDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE.  This is a simple, yet unique layout, that I'm sure to use again and again!  I really like how it looks with the square image.
I gain so much inspiration from the design team members of these challenge blogs and this one was no exception.  I'm a huge fan of all these gals!   One in particular ~ Vicki Burdick at It's a Stamp Thing gave me the idea of using this dp and color combination.  The black and white designer paper is from Stampin' Up's Night and Day retired pack from the Holiday Mini and the bright pink is In-color Melon Mambo.

This funny image is from American Art Stamps.  The glossy vinyl flowers are from my stash and I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use them.  I took the Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects glaze to her hat bow to give it the same shine and dimension.

Before I go, I can't resist sharing a photo of the birthday cake my hubby (aka Mr Wonderful) ordered for me.   My friend Sara at work bakes the most *delicious* and perfectly beautiful cakes and we like to celebrate every special occasion with what we affectionately call "Saracakes".  MW didn't give her any ideas how to decorate it so she came up with her own design and sentiment!   She's made smiley face cakes for me several times, but this time she decorated it with my VW beetle and I *love* it!  It was almost too cute to eat!  Note, she didn't miss any detail and even has the smiley face antenna ball!

p.s.  i don't call myself "Mrs Wonderful", but Sara knows I call my hubby "Mr Wonderful"!  ;)

I'm so grateful for all the fantastic birthday cards I've received, especially from all my dear friends at The Stamp Shack!  I'll be sure and post them later for you all to see.

Next weekend, I have the opportunity to teach two classes at a local ReLay for Life Cropping for a Cure 2-day Scrapbook Retreat so I need to be getting my ducks in a row for that event.  One class is for a 6 x 6 Winter Wonderland scrapbook page and the other class is "Cardmaking with Scrapbook Scraps".  Should be lots of FUN!!  I'll be sure and share my projects with you when I get it worked out.   If you live in the Norfolk, Nebraska area and you're interested in this event, please email me and I would be happy to send you the details!

Thanks so much for blogging by today!  Enjoy your Sunday!
